In my presentation at the GIA Colored Stones program, I focused on celebrating creativity and the joy of learning. I chose to approach our study materials and gemstones with a sense of fun, emphasizing that only some things in our field need to be taken too seriously. By selecting the word "kitsch," I aimed to challenge the prejudices often associated with people's choices and tastes. My goal in sharing my favourite stones with my classmates was to demonstrate that our differences are valuable and should be embraced. This approach underlines that while our personal preferences contribute to our identity, they don't entirely define us.
